Synopsis:
The cast of the acclaimed hit movie The Women’s Balcony is reunited for a new TV series that moves the film’s story forward – giving us a chance to revisit the warm-hearted, tightly-knit neighborhood of Jerusalem’s Bukharim Quarter, home to a moderate Orthodox sect whose lives revolve around friendship, support, humor and their local synagogue.
But the synagogue is falling down and needs major restoration. Tsahi Halevi plays Felician, who grew up in the Bukharim Quarter, where he was known as a troublemaker. He is now a successful US-based businessman, but is he a reformed character?
Amid the fallout from Felician’s return, four women at the center of the community each find themselves at a personal crossroads. Recently widowed Etti tries to build a new life for herself. Margalit discovers her husband has been hiding the true extent of his financial problems. Ora takes on the ultra-Orthodox regulations by deciding to run for council herself, and Tikva struggles to adapt following a cancer diagnosis.
When real-estate developers earmark the area for wholesale transformation, and the ultra-Orthodox politicians try to model the neighborhood on their own, will the families of the Bukharim Quarter be able to hold on to their way of life, their livelihoods and the very streets they call home?
